In mid-2003, Informed Decisions and Florida Medicaid, with the support and approval of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, entered into a collaboration to launch the wireless eMPOWERx system to 1,000 of the highest prescribing Florida Medicaid prescribers. Since Informed Decisions implemented eMPOWERx, Florida Medicaid has achieved a significant reduction in severe drug interactions, accomplished major cost savings, and accomplished a reduction in fraud. Consequently, Florida has requested and approved expansion of the program. Additionally, Informed Decisions is currently the prime contractor for a similar program initiated by the Mississippi Division of Medicaid that provides eMPOWERx to 225 of the State’s top Medicaid prescribers.
Patient Manifest
Providers use the Patient Manifest to gather information about each patient’s medication
history, to identify drug therapies initiated by other providers, and to better
understand their patient’s refill frequency for maintenance medications. All of
this secure data is immediately available to providers’ at the point of care.
Clinical Pharmacology Drug Information
eMPOWERx is also home to Clinical Pharmacology’s concise, clinically-relevant
drug information for prescription medications and popular herbal, OTC and nutritional
products – updated in real-time. Healthcare professionals can search instantly by
generic and brand name, indication, adverse reaction, classification and precaution.
Extensive drug data includes description, indications/dosage, administration, interactions,
adverse reactions, contraindications/precautions, classifications, how supplied
and pregnancy/lactation information.
Drug Interaction Screening
Drug Interaction Reporting tools identify clinically important interactions for
prescription drugs and selected herbal, OTC and nutritional products. Severity rankings
are also listed to alert the healthcare professional to potential red flags within
a patient’s medication regimen.
