In mid-2003, Informed Decisions and Florida Medicaid, with the support and approval of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, entered into a collaboration to launch the wireless eMPOWERx system to 1,000 of the highest prescribing Florida Medicaid prescribers. Since Informed Decisions implemented eMPOWERx, Florida Medicaid has achieved a significant reduction in severe drug interactions, accomplished major cost savings, and accomplished a reduction in fraud. Consequently, Florida has requested and approved expansion of the program.
